Where does Ameloblastoma most frequently occur?

Ameloblastoma is a benign but locally aggressive odontogenic tumor that predominantly occurs in the jawbones. It is most frequently found near the angle of the mandible. This area is a common location due to the dense bone structure and the presence of dental structures. The angle of the mandible, where the lower jaw turns upwards towards the ramus, is conducive to the development of this tumor because it is an area rich in odontogenic tissue.

While ameloblastomas can also occur in other locations within the jaw, such as the maxilla and other areas of the mandible, the prevalence near the angle of the mandible is significant. The maxilla tends to have a lower incidence of ameloblastomas compared to the mandible, and the mandibular symphysis and molar ramus regions are less frequently cited as primary sites for these tumors. Hence, the angle of the mandible stands out as the most common site for ameloblastoma occurrence.
